The Historical District has been restored and now includes a mix of homes, retail outlets and local businesses. There are nearly 40 parks in Tinley Park, lovingly maintained by the city’s active Park District. Hiking, riding and cross-country skiing trails are abundant. Picnic areas, nature preserves and every kind of ball field ever made exists in Tinley Park. This recreational Mecca is a place of tranquility, a place to play and have fun. A mere 30 minutes northeast is the “Windy City” of Chicago, a place to work and enjoy the amenities of a big city. But if Tinley Park residents never wanted to leave home, that would be okay, too.
